Some thoughts on Benjamin Franklin and modern corporate ethics. Benjamin Franklin favored practical solutions over complicated theories, and compromise instead of strife among persons of good will. Throughout his life he talked about the values of hard work and self-reliance, common sense and thrift. If we add in tolerance and compassion to Franklin's usual list, you have the core values you probably want in the employees of your organization. Those core values are what builds and maintains a middle class of managers
and employees in a successful organization. That middle class is the
stabilizing force that prevents extremes in values from stopping the continuance
of the company. |
